O go out to Him!” points to a quotation from Hebrews chapter 13, verse 13: “Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.” But what does this really mean for us today, in our personal lives? This is exactly what Karl Pedersen wanted to bring out in his song.
Karl Pedersen—the Songwriter Behind “Go Out From the Camp!”
Karl Pedersen became an early part of the congregation that arose around the Christian preaching of Johan Oscar Smith at the beginning of the 1900s. He wrote several songs that are published in the songbook “Ways of the Lord.” His songs have proven to be enduring. They are marked by heartfelt exhortations unto the fear of God, and to complete surrender to God.

Anna Belden: the Songwriter behind “O God’s Kingdom Consists Not of Word”
Anna Belden was a Norwegian songwriter from Stadlandet. When she was quite young, she wrote two songs that were rich in content and full of life, with a deep Christian message. Anna died at only 23 years of age, but her songs testify that even by that time, she had found deep meaning in life. The songs she wrote—”Onward by faith as a pilgrim and stranger” and “O God’s kingdom consists not of word”—have been a source of help, comfort, and blessings for generations.

What does the kingdom of God actually consist of? The song “O God’s kingdom consists not of word” provides the answer to this question. Based on Rom. 14:17, Anna Belden, a young Norwegian woman who was zealous for God, wrote this song. This can be taken as a thought-provoking lesson. But the song is also full of powerful exhortations and is an encouragement to understand what it takes to partake of the kingdom ourselves.

Clement of Rome is the third of the so-called Apostolic Fathers, together with Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp of Smyrna. Clement was the bishop of Rome late in the first century, and has left an important text, one of the few remaining Christian texts from the first century outside of the Bible.

The early church fathers were key individuals who carried on Jesus’ teaching, after the death of Paul and the other Apostles. They maintained contact between the churches. They served as church leaders and missionaries. They wrote epistles, personal letters and sermons, which have been preserved up until today. This is also our main source of information about them.
Their efforts had great importance in preserving the message of Jesus and the Apostles. They often took great personal risk, endangering even their own lives. Many of them died as martyrs. Yet they never doubted what they did was right. By their work the message of Jesus was preserved, so that we today can read it in the Bible, and can be edified by the same message.
